Seriously, seeing is believing
This has been one of the most anticipated movies of the year ever since I saw the first teaser and then saved the others from getting spoiled. But even so, I can’t believe I’m about to say this, but this might actually be the best animated film in DreamWorks history. This is truly one of the most visually beautiful animated films ever made. It’s simply stunning from start to finish, full of enchantment and incomparable beauty that fills the screen with color and life. It really is like a Studio Ghibli animation made from Monet’s paintings, and there are times when it’s hard to even process everything they have to show you.
But I don’t see why anyone would because it executes everything it wants to do so exquisitely and compellingly
It’s definitely the most impactful animation work I’ve seen since the first “Spider-Verse”; and an evolution of what the studio did with “The Bad Guys”; and “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish”, and if you hesitate, it’s still more beautiful than all of them. I can only imagine what a beauty like this must look like on an IMAX screen and maybe even in 3D, and I’ll definitely be following that experience when it officially comes out, but even in a regular theater XD it was a great spectacle that took my breath away with every frame. The story itself is pretty simple in concept and essence, and if there’s anything that would cause some people to criticize the film, it would probably be for that. I think people forget that even simple narratives like this take a lot of effort to make them work, and this movie makes it look easy because it doesn’t even have to do much and it just grabs you right away. It’s an extremely moving journey from start to finish and is filled with beautiful themes and endearing, lovable characters that deserve to be remembered.
;I built triumphantly
The pacing is calm and takes its time with the necessary patience, the action is measured but thrilling when it happens, and the emotional moments hit hard but never in a forced way, but rather because they earn it with everything they do. The humor and melodrama are balanced just right, even though it’s much more focused on the dramatic side, but it’s one that warms your heart in a very welcoming and touching way.
